Restylish x B1G CAM Interview

B1G CAM

IG: @B1G.CAM

Restylish: Where did your passion for music come from?

B1G CAM: My passion for music stemmed from it constantly being a part of my culture growing up. From being in the church choir, to listening to what my older brother and sister listened to, it was always something I was surrounded by. I also constantly listened to the radio. I eventually started writing as a kid in elementary and it’s really been a part of me since then.

Restylish: What inspires you?
B1G CAM: Looking in the mirror and seeing the person that I know I can be inspires me to go hard every day, so I can become that person. Even beyond that, I want to be a great influence to my nephews and younger relatives in general. I really just want to inspire the world as a whole and show people anything is possible if you lock in and stay focused. That’s what inspires me and keeps me going.

Restylish: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
B1G CAM: In 5 years, I see myself touring the world with my brothers, creating the best music of our lives and collaborating with some of the greatest artists on the planet. Undoubtedly.

Restylish: 3 words to describe yourself?

B1G CAM: Driven. Ambitious. Resourceful.

Restylish: What’s the first thing you do in morning?

B1G CAM: First thing I do in the morning is thank God for waking me up and blessing me with a great night sleep. Then, I do my morning routine: read my John C. Maxwell Daily Reader, squats & push-ups, fill my gallon of water for the day, skincare routine, brush my hair. Typical hygiene care. It’s like my daily warmup to get in my productive flow for the day. I try to keep my phone a good distance away from me when doing this to avoid external distractions.

Restylish: Is there an artist you want to work with that you have not yet had the opportunity to work with?
B1G CAM: Most definitely. I have a few I could name to be honest, but if I had to speak on one right now, I’d probably say Aaron May.

Restylish: If you were stranded on an island what are the three things that’d, you’d take with you?
B1G CAM: Alright, so if we’re assuming that the island already has food and water, I’m not gonna worry about that and say I’d bring my phone with a charging case, a machete, and a box of matches.

Restylish: Which people or books have had the most influence on your growth and why?B1G CAM: My favorite artist, J. Cole, has had a great influence on me as a person and an artist. As far as books go, I had to read this one book called A Dream Too Big by Caylin Louis Moore in my first semester at UT & it really inspired me. Definitely gave me a broader perspective on life and a new level of thinking in terms of achievement.

Restylish: What’s your favorite song in your catalog?

B1G CAM: If I had to choose out of my released songs, it would be between Lucid and Touchdown. Now if we’re talking catalog in general, then at the moment, it’s an unreleased track called Big Boss. Stay on the lookout for that.

Git

IG: @lagarethstanfieldgit

Restylish: Where did your passion for music come from?
Git: Since I was 13, my mother played “Me Against The World” from Tupac. Ever since then I had become extremely interested into rap and hip hop music. I’m not sure if I still hold to that passion today, but I try.

Git: Pensive, Anxious, & Numb (sometimes).

Restylish: What’s the first thing you do in morning?

Git: To be honest, I look at my phone at the news and go on YouTube. I should probably change that, but I go on YouTube and look for the next debate in philosophy.

Git: I’m still working to build my name up, but it’d be so dope to work with The Internet or any member from Dreamville.

Git: A bottle of whiskey, “Lord Of The Flies” book by William Golding just because I’m on an island, and a lighter.
Restylish: Which people or books have had the most influence on your growth and why?

Git: “Demon Haunted World” by Carl Sagan had a huge impact on me growing up in my early 20s. Reason being is because it provided much context related to my lost in faith during my college years. I’m not sure that counts as “growth” but for me it really did.

Git: Stevie Wonder-Summer Soft. Hands DOWN.

Restylish x KyLeah Interview

KyLeah

IG: @Kyleah.pruitt

Restylish: Where did your passion for music come from?

KyLeah: My passion for music started pretty early. I grew up singing in my dad’s church and that’s where I first explored creating music and different sounds. I realized that music, is subjective and can be found in literally everything.

Restylish: What inspires you?

KyLeah: Everything that I come into contact with inspires me! Like I said before, music can be found in anything. Whether that be a breeze sliding between the leaves of an oak tree or the sound of stilettos clicking along the sidewalk. It creates something in us, whether we pay close attention to it or not. Our bodies are made to pick up on these things and it invokes an idea, a physical reaction, a story, an emotion and/or in my case, a melody. So, I find the most joy in taking it all in and trying my best to identify that feeling, to find the melody that in makes in my heart, and then to put words behind it.  I often think “If blank could talk, then what would it say?” and I just go from there.

Restylish: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

KyLeah: I honestly have no idea as far as details are concerned. I do know that in five years, I will be prospering financially, in a new stage of growth mentally, and overall joyous. However, the road before me has many turns and to say where I’m going to be exactly, in my opinion, is not always up to my discretion. All I can do is work hard, pray, and enjoy the ride.

Restylish: 3 words to describe yourself?

KyLeah: The three words I would use to describe myself is unique, artistic, and kind. I’m unique because I know that there will never be anyone in existence that is exactly like me which means that it is up to me and only me to define my worth and to experience everything that is involved in who I am.

I can’t get enough of anything concerning the arts. I’m the most relaxed when reciting a poem or browsing in an art gallery. My fascination with creating an image and working up an emotion, will always be something that I treasure.

Kindness is a virtue I live by. I’m constantly reminding myself that, “If I were having a bad day, then I would want someone to show me kindness”. Being kind goes a long way and through being kind to others,  it has shown me the importance of being kind to myself as well.

Restylish: What’s the first thing you do in morning?

KyLeah: As terrible as it is, recently, the first thing I do is check my phone and that’s because I make plans based on the emails and DMs I get through the night prior. I also set my alarm every night before I go to bed, so it’s also the first thing to wake me up in the morning haha.

Restylish: Is there an artist you want to work with that you have not yet had the opportunity to work with?

KyLeah: I would love to do a performance with Common, live! His talent is unmatched when it comes to his lyrical abilities. If he ever ends up reading this, let me know what’s up!

Restylish: If you were stranded on an island what are the three things that’d you’d take with you?

KyLeah: So, let me tell you, I’ve thought about this long and hard so forgive me for my realistic answers haha! A must have is a book on all things survival so I can at least have a fighting chance. My next item would be a water filter so I wouldn’t have to worry about drinking contaminated water. Lastly, it would honestly have to be a machete and that’s to help with food, protection, and building a raft to get out of there.

Restylish: Which people or book have had the most influence on your growth and why?

KyLeah: A book that definitely had the most influence on me growing up is Schooled by Gordon Korman. Just to give a quick summary, it’s about a young hippie who grew up on a farm with his grandmother in an alternative community and has recently been integrated into 8th grade at a public school. This book had a big influence on me because although people thought he was out of the ordinary, he never changed himself. It helped me build my confidence in who I was and to never apologize for the quirks and kinks that made me, Ky’Leah! I realized no one would ever be me and that’s beyond okay. If anything, it added sprinkles to the cake.

Restylish: What’s your favorite song in your catalog?

KyLeah: This changes so often, it’s crazy! It’s unreleased, but I’ll dish a few features out. This song is in regards to the African American  people and all that we have been through and all that we are. It’s one of the few raps/spoken word that are going to be on the album. Oops, did I say album?

Restylish x KM.T Interview

KM.T

IG: @heiskm.t

Restylish: Where did your passion for music come from?

KM.T: I feel my passion for music was born into me. I have been playing music since I was 4 years old by taking piano lessons. Later on I started drums at age 7, continued into music production at age 14. Then later becoming a full fledged music artist at 19. So over time music just became a part of my DNA.

Restylish: What inspires you?

KM.T: Oddly enough, what inspires me is the endless possibilities to create the music I want. I get inspired by making and creating my own musical story and being able to not only sonically create and build my own vibe and feels, but I then get to direct and make a music video that encompasses what I envision as I create the song well. It’s truly inspiring to see and recognize your own potential because it pushes you to go even further the next time.

Restylish: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

KM.T: In five years, I see myself as a constant big billboard charting music artist. I see myself being able to take my music production to a whole new level. I can see myself being everyone’s next favorite artist, and hearing my music when people drive by, seeing my music videos played on tv, and hearing my music in shows, and movie films. I envision in five years, I will be awarded for my creativity and will be able to steadily create big picture productions for my music.

Restylish: 3 words to describe yourself?

KM.T: Innovative, Creative, and Dedicated

Restylish: What’s the first thing you do in the morning?

KM.T: First thing after health and hygiene, is planning out my day. I then begin writing out my daily goals on my white board, and heading straight to working on my music and pushing myself to the fullest extent possible each and every day.

Restylish: Is there an artist you want to work with that you have not yet had the opportunity to work with?

KM.T: I would definitely love to work with Kendrick Lamar. I feel that I could learn so much as an artist from him that it would be insane. The way his brain works and how he paints his own picture of his own struggles is quite fascinating. It’s undeniable to me that he is one of the greatest artists of all time.

Restylish: If you were stranded on an island what are the three things that’d you’d take with you?

KM.T: My music set up, a video production set up, and some video games.

Restylish: Which people or books have had the most influence on your growth and why?

KM.T: I really enjoyed reading a book called “Found” by Margaret Petterson Haddix. All time favorite books of mine that i’ve read so far. For influential people, my mom and dad have definitely been my number one most influential people in my life. Even though my dad passed away at a young age, both of them have contributed and still contribute so much into the human being I am today.

Restylish: What’s your favorite song in your catalog?

KM.T: My Favorite song in my catalog has to be “Honestly”. The song to me is incredibly heartfelt and it became a staple milestone in my writing point. This song I felt my songwriting had shown improvements and there are times where I listen back to it, and get new meaning to the same lyrics. It is as if the song predicts the future or has overseen/foreshadows certain choices of life.

Restylish x Lauviis Interview

Lauviis

IG: @Lauviis

Restylish: Where did your passion for music come from?

Restylish: What inspires you?

Lauviis: Honestly, Death. Leaving this Earth with no legacy is what pushes me. Living in Hawaii is expensive & my mom was a single mom so we didn’t have much. Seeing her struggle inspired me to use my gifts to create a lifestyle that would leave a legacy for my family.

Lauviis: Weed. Reese’s. My family.

Restylish: Which people or books have had the most influence on your growth and why?

Restylish: What’s your favorite song in your catalog?

Lauviis: Daydreamin
